Britain, the European Union and America After the May 6 Election
Mr. Robin Niblett, Director of Chatham House
On April 28, 2010, the Brookings Center on the US and Europe and the Heinrich Böll Foundation, as part of their ongoing series on the future of the European Union, will host Robin Niblett, Director of Chatham House (the Royal Institute of International Affairs) for a discussion of the likely trajectory of UK foreign policy after the May 6 election and the implications for Europe and the United States.
Before joining Chatham House, from 2001 to 2006, Dr Niblett was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of CSIS, where he also served, from 2005 to 2007, as Director of the Europe Program and its Initiative for a Renewed Transatlantic Partnership.
In view of the incoming election, Chatham House has launched a major project on The UK's International Ambitions and Choices which has had input – in the form of a unique dialogue – from all three foreign affairs spokesmen of the major British parties. Robin Niblett will present the main results of these events and offer his own thoughts before engaging in a discussion with participants. I will introduce and moderate the discussion.
We hope you can join us. Please RSVP here if you will be able to attend.
